Ways to Keep Your 4H Career 

4-H offers a wide variety of opportunities for teens to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and aspirations needed for adult success.New

The beginning point for teens to become involved in all 4-H opportunities is through local 4-H clubs. Through these clubs, they have the opportunity to participate in activities that could include projects designed especially for teens, community service and citizenship activities. After that there are many leadership opportunities at the county and state levels including numerous boards, committees, and camping opportunities.

Please contact your county OSU Extension Office for deadlines. The forms must be signed by the Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development before they are submitted. All application materials must be in the State 4-H Office by February 15, 2013.

2013 Ohio 4-H Scholarships

NewOhio 4-H Scholarships

Ohio 4-H recognizes and rewards individual excellence, whether it is in project work, leadership, citizenship or community service. Ohio 4-H Scholarships were established in 1976 in order to help young people become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. There are currently 36 statewide 4-H scholarships being offered. In addition to these scholarships, individual counties may also offer county-based scholarships. Please check with your local Extension office for a listing of these scholarships. Click on this link to read about your county scholarships.

Criteria, Instructions, and Application

In addition to personal information, before beginning this 4-H Scholarship Application please make sure you have the following items available. Survey responses will be saved automatically and you can continue to work on your application but only on the same computer which you started it on and only using the same Internet program (e.g., Explorer, Firefox). You may only complete the application 1 time and you cannot scroll through previous pages so please make sure the information you provide is accurate.

  • High school Grade Point Average (GPA) and rank.
  • High school information (name, city, state, county, country).
  • Month and year of (expected) high school graduation
  • Composite American College Testing (ACT) and/or SAT scores (if taken).
  • Academic honors you have received
  • If you are or will be an Ohio State student, your OSU username.# and ID# (can be found on your receipt of admission application email).
  • Information about your current or anticipated college or university (name, city, state)
  • If you are in college, the number of years you have attended and your cumulative GPA
  • Intended academic major
  • Name, Title, and Contact Information for a Personal Reference (e.g., high school guidance counselor, teacher, employer, community leader, etc...).
  • Detailed information about your major 4-H leadership roles; you should know the names of the roles, the years, level(s), duties and accomplishments.
  • Information on your 4-H citizenship activities: What activities have you performed through 4-H to benefit the community?
  • Detailed information about Major 4-H honors that you have received.
  • Information about your educational, career, or personal goals and what impact 4-H has had on those ambitions.
  • Personal statement explaining why a 4-H scholarship would be important to your achieving a college education AND how 4-H has contributed to your personal development, leadership and other skills and to your likely success in life.
